Tyres

TREAD and TYRE PRESSURE are the two critical factors to tyre safety. Tyre tread will help your vehicle to grip the road surface when braking and cornering. Driving on under-inflated tyres will use more fuel, while driving on over-inflated tyres can affect vehicle handling and overall wear.

TYRE WEAR AND PRESSURE are a routine check with all our VEHICLE SERVICES and are included in every WOF INSPECTION.

We can source, fit and balance the right tyres for your vehicle.

We do puncture repairs.

Depending on their condition we can rotate your tyres to ensure optimum life from your existing tyres.

Legally, treads on conventional all-season or summer tyres must be at least 1.5mm deep across three quarters of the tread pattern around the entire tyre. However, if you have tread depth indicators in the principal grooves then you must have at least 1.5mm tread depth in these areas. If you use winter tyres (also known as snow tyres), these must have at least 4mm tread depth in the grooves that usually contain tread depth indicators.

Wheel Alignments

Wheel Alignments are important to the handling of your car; they also improve fuel economy and extend tyre life. We can add a Wheel Alignment to any Service, Repair or WOF inspection booking.

Some common problems and driving warning signs encountered when your wheels are out of alignment can include:

  • Steering difficulties - Wheel is difficult to turn, Pulls to the left or right, Vibrates.
  • Tyre wear - Uneven wear on one side, Feathering (angled wear), Flat Spotting (a flat rigid spot).

If you notice any of these or have concerns regarding your vehicle’s performance call us to discuss the best course of action. We are here to help keep you and your vehicle safe on the roads.

The results of having a Wheel Alignment performed on your vehicle include:
Improved Driver Safety, Improved Handling, Increased Fuel Efficiency, Extended Suspension Life, Minimised Tyre Wear, Improved Steering.

We will recommend a Wheel Alignment be performed following some vehicle repairs or if we notice tyre wear in the process of inspecting your vehicle during a WOF or Service.

Car Batteries

Batteries are a common source of issues with a car. If you have trouble starting your vehicle, the dash battery light is on, electrical components are not functioning as they should, your battery is old or shows signs of swelling or corrosion it may be time to replace your battery.

We are an authorised Marshall Battery stockist and have trained technicians who can fit the right battery for your vehicle. All battery prices include fitting and have a minimum 2-year warranty for private vehicles (online registration can often extend the warranty period further).

We offer FREE Digital Battery Testing.

Not all electrical issues are caused by the battery – if we find your battery is performing well during testing then we can check other electrical components that may be causing issues such as the battery terminals, battery cables, alternator, serpentine and alternator belts.

We are also able to charge your battery on-site if required.

Often lights or electronic devices left on can drain your vehicle’s battery. A flat battery rarely happens at a convenient location. WE HAVE A CALL-OUT SERVICE WITHIN THE INVERCARGILL CITY AREA to help get you back up & running.
